Athletics Information
The Albertus Magnus High School athletic program has a long and successful history. Our goal is to support the mission of Albertus Magnus High School by creating well-rounded leaders on the academic and athletic playing fields. The opportunity to participate in our competitive sports programs is designed to inspire students with the values of discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-confidence, success and over-coming adversity. This “Falcon spirit” is the core of our program. Albertus Magnus teams are well recognized in Section One and NY State for their exceptional teamwork and competitive spirit. They are attributes that our coaches, players, parents and alumni take great pride in. Almost 60% of our students are actively involved in our sports program. Falcon teams have had great success in a variety of sports winning league, section, regional and state championships. We have had numerous scholar athlete winners & we are particularly proud that Albertus Magnus High School is the only Catholic school ever recognized by the NYSPHSAA as a Scholar/Athlete Team of Distinction. This was achieved in 2003.
Making a team at Albertus Magnus High School is competitive. The Athletic Department encourages all students to participate in our program. Some teams have limited positions available. Each sport provides a try-out period to assess the skills and abilities of our athletes before final selection of team members.
Current sports teams include Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Winter & Spring Track, Football, Cheerleading, Tennis, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Golf, and Lacrosse.
Parent and athlete information sessions are held at the beginning of each season and provide more-detailed data on the sport and associated requirements. Please check the Albertus Magnus web site for schedule information and upcoming events. Cancellations or game changes will be posted on the home page by 2:00 PM each day.
