Letter from the Principal on April 27, 2020

April 27, 2020

I hope this letter finds you and your families healthy as we continue to battle through this terrible pandemic. I am also hoping that our students have adjusted and are benefiting from the distance learning program we have implemented at Albertus Magnus. The faculty has continued to work diligently to deliver continued quality instruction through the many technological tools and resources at our school that we had in place prior to the pandemic.

We await Governor Cuomo’s information this week as he has indicated that he will address the latest plans regarding school closures. Schools are currently officially closed until May 15th and the Archdiocese has closed schools through May 22nd.  Hopefully, he will reevaluate and bring us up to date as promised. Based on his decision regarding government restrictions, Ms. Wassmer will then update teachers, parents and students on enhancements and adjustments to the distance learning methods at Albertus.

We realize that this is a very stressful time for us all, and especially our students. Our Guidance Department is available at any time via e-mail with issues or questions. In addition, Guidance has established “Guidance Hours” via ZOOM Mon-Thurs. 10am-11am (Enter Meeting ID:614 185 618). Please see the Albertus Magnus website the AM Family Under the Corona Virus for other helpful articles and resources.

Please keep in your thoughts and prayers our senior students and their families as many of their well-earned and deserved graduation events and memories are jeopardized by restrictions put in place because of this pandemic. As a result, we have decided to postpone our graduation and senior event schedule until mid-June with the hope that the restrictions and regulations will be adjusted to be less strict. Please see our website for dates, times and specifics as things develop.

Please pray for members of the Albertus Magnus Community during this pandemic and especially keep in your prayers all the health care professionals, first responders and essential personnel, who are working tirelessly and risking their health daily.
