April 3, 2020
Dear Albertus Magnus School Community,
As we have just completed our third full week of distance learning, I am inspired and impressed by the hard work of our students, parents, teachers and administrators. They have risen to the occasion and are meeting the challenge.
As part of my efforts to keep you informed, I would like to give you several updates about the school calendar.
- In accordance with state and federal guidelines, Albertus Magnus will remain closed and distance-learning will continue through April 30, 2020. The pandemic, as it effects our community, will be re-evaluated at that time and the decision will be made regarding the continuation of distance-learning.
- Albertus Magnus will be on Easter break commencing Holy Thursday, April 9th through Friday, April 17th. Distance-learning will resume on Monday, April 20th. I feel that it is a welcome, well-needed and deserved break for all.
As we approach the Holiest of weeks for Catholics and our next two “Catholic Weekends of Prayer”, Cardinal Dolan has invited all Catholic school students and their families to join him in celebrating Palm Sunday and Easter Mass from St. Patrick’s Cathedral this Sunday and next Sunday, April 5th & 12th at 10:00 am. We will come together as a Catholic School Community to pray together and view televised Mass on PIX 11or live stream on the St. Patrick’s Cathedral website. The Masses may also be heard on the Catholic Channel, Sirius XM 129.
As we enter further into this world-wide health crisis, it has affected so many more people and families in our Albertus Magnus Community. Please help each other, be safe and be practical. Especially keep in mind and continue to pray for our health care workers and first responders who are fighting this disaster head on every day.
St. Albert the Great Pray for Us,
Christopher M. Power
