“Albertus Magnus groomed me into the leader I am today. Through all the opportunities to develop public speaking skills and by enhancing my leadership skills as the Student Body President and Captain of the basketball team. Albertus prepared me for Rutgers University and later to become an Operations Manager for the #1 e-commerce company in the world, Amazon.com.”

“The family like atmosphere at Albertus makes me extremely grateful for the teachers and coaches that took time to understand my life goals and then support me in personalizing my high school experience to ensure I would have the skills to pursue my dreams. The science department challenged and encouraged me every single day, preparing me to succeed in college. Sports were an equal part of my AM experience, every season taught new lessons and challenged me to work harder with my teammates for success. Lastly, we were encouraged to value community and to give back, this value has guided me to make the most out of my college, medical school and now my work community. Overall, my time as a student at Albertus allowed me to grow to be confident and well-rounded during my 4 years and I will be a grateful alum for my entire life."

“When I entered Albertus, I was an outgoing, well-meaning kid looking for a place to use my energy for good. My involvement with the campus ministry program and as an AMHS ambassador has been nothing short of life changing. The experiences I have had, the teachers I have had, and the friends I have made are things that will stay for me forever. I cannot imagine where I would be if I did not attend Albertus Magnus High School- it has been one of the best decisions, if not THE greatest decision, I have ever made.”

"Albertus Magnus High School helped shape me into the person I am today. Not only did the academics prepare me for college, but the experiences I acquired on the softball field and tennis court will stay with me forever. Albertus' faculty and staff were the kindest people who truly wanted to know more about me. They always made me feel welcome and open to share my opinions and dreams. The positive and comfortable environment allowed me to share my dreams of going to Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business and with their help I was able to achieve my dream. I am forever grateful to all the faculty, staff, and administration at Albertus for shaping me into the person I always wanted to be."

Having a group of teachers that went above and beyond to invest in me as a scholar, and as a person, is what transformed me during my time at Albertus. Albertus has some secret treasures in there teaching staff—educators that don't show up to a job, they show up to a calling. Educators that have dedicated their full careers to the Albertus school community, and its families. They nurture not only during the time that we're with them in their classrooms but beyond. Mrs. Rivers and Mrs. Arellano, for example, have been lifelong mentors to me, cheering me on every step of the way: graduating from college, making it through grad school, becoming a teacher myself, getting a job in Washington, going for my PhD, writing a book. They check in, they encourage, they care. They’ve taught me lessons outside the scope of biology, chemistry or English—lessons I still draw on today. They’re a huge reason I became my best self as a student and a professional.

“At Albertus, I was not only given an opportunity to challenge myself with academics, but also with important real world skills such as organization and leadership. I have been the Stage Manager for the play since my sophomore year, and it has taught me how to be a leader, organize my schedule, and become more outgoing. I was also able to continue excelling in the classroom whilst acting in this important position because my teachers were willing to go above and beyond in helping me manage my work and perform to the best of my abilities in each class.”
Lauren Gruffi ‘13, Dartmouth College ‘17, Medical Student at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine
“Through my various academic, athletic, and extracurricular commitments, Albertus inculcated values of community, trust, and faith and continually challenged me to become a better person, student, teammate, and friend. These values continue to guide me post-graduation and influenced my decision to attend medical school, where I will continue to hold myself to the high standards instilled during my education at AMHS.”

“The opportunities that are available at Albertus have made me a better student, athlete, and leader. I know that I would not be the successful student that I am today if I attended any other school, and I know that Albertus has instilled the necessary skills and leadership qualities I will need for my future endeavors.”

“Albertus helped me pursue my passion for basketball as well as helped me succeed academically. The coaches and the teachers were so supportive of me and helped me to achieve a Division 1 scholarship at Manhattan. The commitment they had to help me succeed could not be found anywhere else. We truly have a supportive family here at AM that is encouraging and helpful.”

“I am thankful for the truly special academic experiences I had at Albertus. Our amazing faculty is always willing to go the extra mile to help their students, be it by staying late or coming in early for extra help or test prep. All of this, in addition to the welcoming culture of family fostered by a community of students who truly love their
high school, has made for a high school experience I would not trade for anything.”

“Albertus has allowed me to grow deeply in my both my faith and my studies through the many opportunities made available to me over the last four years. I have been able to be an active voice for what I believe in like Falcons for Life, work alongside fellow peers and teachers in Student Council, learn to be a leader at a RYLA conference, and pursue my interests at an Engineering Conference. My time at Albertus has prepared me for success in my future through the leadership skills, study skills, and life skills I have gained from my wonderful and dedicated teachers and counselors. Without them I would not have had the support I needed to get to where I am today and to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor.”

“My Albertus experience was absolutely profound. To me, this school felt like a home away from home. I loved that Albertus is a diverse place with activities for any student with any interest. Not only was I given a fantastic educational opportunity, I was given opportunities to step outside my comfort zone and do new things in the arts and multiple community service activities. I developed skills that will last a lifetime.”

"Albertus gave me opportunities to challenge myself; whether that was the football coach giving me the ball on a 4th down play, teachers encouraging me to take AP courses, or friends helping me study for the SAT. These experiences prepared me for college, helped me succeed at West Point, and led to a great career as an aerospace engineer and military pilot. I will always be grateful for my Albertus Magnus friends, teachers, coaches, and mentors because they pushed me to unlock my greater potential.”

“I would not trade my AM experience for anything. Over the four years I spent at AM, I found a deep love for
music and theater. I have also created many long-lasting friendships that I will carry on through my life. Albertus
has prepared me academically for the future and it was worth it. There is no other school I would rather attend as
nothing compares to the family at AM.”

Terence O'Neill - IBM Client Executive , AM '05 , Gettysburg College '09, Pace University M.B.A.
“The decision to attend Albertus was one of the best I have ever made. On top of making lifelong friends, I was able to learn about character, good judgement, and hard work. The qualities that were instilled in me through an AMHS education continue to make an impact on my daily life. There is no substitute for a quality Catholic education, and AMHS gives their students that and a lot more. Albertus provided me the unique opportunity to develop my leadership skills by participating in student council and playing multiple varsity sports. The school taught me faith & compassion by doing volunteer community service work. The challenging academic curriculum and compassionate environment at AMHS provided a great foundation for myself as well as my siblings."
Vinny Costa ’06, MD Attending Physician, Montefiore Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine
