John Humphrey ‘15 exhibited his work in the 2019 Graphic Design Thesis Exhibition at SUNY New Paltz. The Graphic Design program at SUNY New Paltz is based on the strong conviction that broadly educated individuals make good designers. The program integrates the College's Liberal Arts core courses with a rigorous Design curriculum. They position Design as a cross-disciplinary practice with skills drawn from Communication and Media, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology, and Fine Art. John made the spring Dean’s List and graduated this May with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design.

During the winter intersession John participated in the Cuba study abroad program for graphic design. The program was a collaboration between SUNY New Paltz and Instituto Superior de Diseno students in Havana, Cuba. While there students partook in a variety of projects, including Con Quien Vivo?/Who Do I Live With?, Bota + Crece/Throw + Grow, Perro Azul/Blue Dog, Yo amo Havana Limpia/ I love a Clean Havana, and Communigraphs! From exploring the country's architecture and writing journals while at the program, to participating in a variety of projects and activities in groups, students were able to enhance their knowledge in graphic design and Cuban culture. His work was on display during New Paltz Design Week exhibit "Somos Cuba: SUNY New Paltz + ISDi Collaboration".
