In case you missed the announcement, Jen Wassmer has been named assistant principal for the 2019-2020 academic year.  We are thrilled with the addition to our administration as Jen has been a student and faculty member here and a big part of the AM fAMily.  The shoe really fits as you will learn below.  Please take a moment to find out some more about Jen that you may not already know.

Jennie Wassmer grew up in the Hudson River village Haverstraw, NY. She began teaching the kids on her block in her basement school room from the time she was very young. Jen was intent on teaching elementary school until her AM art teacher suggested she study to become an art teacher. When she visited St. Thomas Aquinas College and the tour guide spoke about the art education and art therapy programs Jen was hooked. She graduated from STAC in May 1994 a Fine Arts Major with a concentration in Art Ed and Art Therapy. She went on to study Art Education at SUNY New Paltz graduating in 2001 with a Master’s. Because that wasn’t enough she attended Manhattan College and earned a Master’s in Education Administration and Building Leadership. After teaching elementary art for six years Jen got a job teaching at her alma mater Albertus Magnus High School. It was there that she realized her true love- teaching high school art. After 17 years in the art room Jen is now starting a new phase in her career as Assistant Principal at Albertus Magnus High School.
