Leadership Institute

A signature program, AM's Leadership Institute, prepares our students to Lead, Serve and Inspire.
Starting with the Class of 2027, Freshmen will complete a year of classes specifically designed to prepare each student for success.  In the Fall, Freshmen participate in guidance classes taught by our College and School Counselors.  These classes focus on topics such as time management and coping with stress, study skills, how to navigate Freshman year, and personal and college goals.   In the Spring, Freshmen participate in the Leadership Institute taught by Mr. Tweed, Head of School and Mrs. Mandy Aikens, Director of Student Life. In the Fall of their Sophomore year, students continue the courses as they use the skills they've learned.

Leadership Institute classes consist of the Habitudes curriculum. Grounded in established research, Habitudes are image-based leadership development lessons that give educators the tools to empower their students with the skills they’ll need to lead in real life.  Using stories, images, video, and experiences, Habitudes speaks to today’s youth in a way they enjoy, providing valuable perspectives and helping start conversations about leadership habits.  With each lesson, a Parent Letter will be provided so parents will be equipped to have meaningful follow-up conversations with their student.
