AM students donate 2300 cans for the Souper Bowl Challenge
To highlight the Dominican Pillars of Service and Community during Catholic Schools Week, the members of the Student Council, under the direction of Mrs. Schofield, organized the Souper Bowl Challenge Food Drive.
During the week of January 28, the Rotunda of Albertus Magnus High School looked like the canned food aisle of the local supermarket! Each student was challenged to donate four cans of food to meet the goal of 1,600 cans of food, and with contributions of food from faculty and staff, the goal seemed reachable. With the help of Mrs. Fevola, Ms. Aikens, and student volunteers, the donations of canned food were counted, packed, and delivered to the following food pantries in Rockland County: Catholic Community Service Food Pantry in Haverstraw, Immaculate Conception Food Pantry in Stony Point, St. Aedan Food Pantry in Pearl River, St. Paul Food Cupboard in Valley Cottage, and St. Peter’s Food Pantry in Haverstraw. Once again, the fAMily showed how generous they are. Over 2,300 cans of food were contributed to the Souper Bowl Challenge Food Drive! Students, faculty, and staff were rewarded with a day off from school on Monday, February 12 – the day after the Super Bowl. Well done, Falcons!
