Feast of the Ascension - Thursday, May 9, 2024

On Thursday, May 9, Msgr. Emmet Nevin ’65 celebrated Mass at Albertus Magnus High School for the Feast of the Ascension, the feast that commemorates Jesus’ return to his Father in heaven forty days after his Resurrection.
In his homily, Monsignor explained that the Apostles wanted Jesus to stay with them forever, but Jesus told them that his place was with the Father and that someday he would call them there, too. So, it is with our journey in life. Our spiritual journey begins at Baptism, and we spend our life preparing for the day when God will call us home by following the teachings of the Gospel and striving to be more Christ-like.

Before the conclusion of Mass, Msgr. Nevin mandated seventeen members of the Class of 2025 as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. These students will serve as Eucharistic Ministers for the Albertus Magnus High School community during their Senior year.

Mr. Tweed addressed the AM community after Mass and reminded us of Jesus’ words to his followers, “I am with you always.” Here at Albertus, the only Catholic high school in Rockland County, we are privileged to acknowledge that Jesus is present in our classrooms, the hallways, and in our interactions with those we meet each day.
