A standout multi-sport athlete at Albertus Magnus High School (Class of 1995), Colleen Sullivan Groves left an enduring legacy as one of the school’s most accomplished female competitors. A four-year varsity starter and two-year captain for the Lady Falcons Soccer Team, she helped lead Albertus Magnus to an extraordinary run of success — capturing the first in history 1994 New York State Class C Championship, three consecutive Section 1 titles (1992–1994), and multiple Rockland League and County Championships.
Colleen’s individual accolades reflected her determination on the field: four-time All-League, three-time All-Section and All-County, and two-time All-State First Team honoree. In 1994, she was named New York State Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Rockland Journal News Player of the Year, and WRKL Athlete of the Year. That same season, she broke the Rockland County scoring record with her 75th goal — ultimately finishing her high-school career with 84 goals and 104 total points. She also represented New York State on the Girls All-Star Team and was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association/Umbro All-Region II East Team.
A true all-around athlete, Colleen was also a four-year varsity basketball player, contributing to the 1991–1992 New York State Class B State and Federation Championship team and earning All-County, All-Section, and All-State honors on the court. Her determination extended beyond athletics: she was recognized as a Scholar-Athlete that exemplified the leadership and spirit of Albertus Magnus.
Following her high-school career, Colleen earned a full NCAA Division I scholarship to Fordham University, where she continued her soccer journey while earning a bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies. In 2024, she was inducted into the New York State High School Girls Soccer Hall of Fame (NYSSCOGS) in Niskayuna, NY.
Today, Colleen has built a successful 25-year career in digital advertising and ad tech, holding leadership roles at McKinsey & Company, Yahoo Inc., Walmart Connect, and now PubMatic, where she serves as Associate Director of Commerce. After several years abroad in London — where she met her husband, Travis Groves — the couple settled in Bergen County, NJ in 2015 and are proud parents of Nathan (12) and Charlotte (9). Outside of her professional career, Colleen is pursuing a graduate degree as a School Library Media Specialist and volunteers at her children’s schools. She enjoys spending weekends cheering them on at multiple sports games, supporting local arts, and chasing after the family’s golden retriever, Bear.
