Dominican Day at Albertus honors the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill
Campus Ministry
April 30, 2025 was Dominican Day at Albertus as we celebrated our identity as a Dominican Catholic high school.
For over 800 years, members of the Dominican Order have built their lives on the foundation of the Four Pillars of Prayer, Study, Community, and Service. These same pillars are the foundation of our spiritual life here at Albertus.
The Albertus community observed Dominican Day with the celebration of Mass. Fr. Raaser, pastor of St. Margaret’s parish in Pearl River, was the celebrant. In his homily, Fr. Raaser spoke of the importance of role models in our lives. He referred to the great Dominican saints Dominic, Catherine of Siena, and Albert the Great as models for us because they lived their lives in pursuit of Truth – of following Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (Jn. 14:6) The Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, who founded Albertus Magnus High School in 1957, were remembered with gratitude for their vision of establishing a Catholic high school in Rockland County and for their continued support of our school.
Fifteen Dominican Sisters joined the Albertus community for Mass and later enjoyed some light refreshments with members of the Preaching Team. How fitting it was to have the Sisters join us in our celebration of Dominican Day!
