Boys Cross Country

Program History

The Albertus Magnus Boys Cross Country program is one of endurance and distinction.  We take great pride in our tradition of excellence on the field, in the classroom and service to our school and local communities. 

There are several members of the Boys Cross Country program inducted into the Albertus Magnus Hall of Fame:
- Dick Teetsel, Coach AMHOF Class of 1995 
- Howard McNiff, Male Athlete AMHOF Class of 1995
- Dick Weis, Coach AMHOF Class of 1996
- 1974 Boys Cross Country, Team of Distinction, AMHOF Class of 1998
- 1975 Boys Cross Country, Team of Distinction AMHOF Class of 2013

We are also honored to have "The Long Red Line", the 1974 Boys Cross Country team, inducted into the Rockland County Sports Hall of Fame in September 2025. 
The Boys Cross Country Program has a rich history of runners at the collegiate level:

Rutgers University
SUNY Plattsburgh    
Princeton University    
Sacred Heart University
Coaches

Coach Collins has been the Head Coach at Albertus for 9 seasons. He has been competing and coaching Cross Country/Track & Field for almost 20 years.  He was a runner at Suffern High School and SUNY Fredonia and an amateur at the professional level.  Coach Collins has the honor of coaching the boys and girls Cross Country teams and enjoys helping kids grow as better athletes in the school’s illustrious history in this sport.

Coach Negast is an alumni of Albertus Magnus graduating in 2021. He is a former athlete for the Cross Country and Track & Field team, part of the championship 4x400 relay and took 2nd place at the County Championship in the 800 meters.  He attended Sacred Heart University and competed at the Division 1 level.
